Neomi Bennett | Award Finalist

Neomi Bennett is a registered nurse & inventor of Multi Award-Winning Neo-Slip.

Growing up, Neomi always knew she wanted to work in a profession, which enabled her to have a positive impact on people’s lives. She had envisaged becoming a registered nurse and was well on her way during her second year of training when she developed an interest in problem solving whilst completing a risk assessment essay. She noticed that patients were not wearing anti embolism stockings, as they were notoriously tight and difficult to put on.  There are currently 25,000 people dying of DVT each year in the UK.  Neomi became very focused on the problems associated with stocking application and grew more interested in finding a solution. After experimenting with different materials and various methods of application, The Neo-slip was born. Since its inception Neo-Slip has received critical acclaim in the UK, the product has won 14 awards for its simplistic design, ingenuity and efficacy including; Nursing Standard, Nursing Times, National Patient Safety Award and NACUE’s people choice. Neomi was a finalist in the Royal College of Nursing Awards 2011 and highly commended by the Lloyds TSB Enterprise Awards 2013, winning the ‘Bright Ideas’ competition as well as receiving a Europas 2013 nomination, a Smarta100award winner for most innovative business award and the NVPC ‘Peoples Choice’ Award.
