All hosted at the wonderful BAFTA including refreshments, food, music, fully licensed bars exclusive film screenings and much more. It truly is a lovely event for all the family, and a chance to put on your finest gear, get your hair done and enjoy.

Each year we ensure that our speakers are topical, relevant and inspirational; sometimes left field but always on point. UK Black History is important and our speakers are there to inspire all of us to make our own positive contribution to UK History black or otherwise.

A great selection of the UKs finest performers, musicians, actors and presenters. Picked personally for your entertainment. Artists filled with passion, talent and a sprinkling of celebrity. The beautiful thing is that they are themselves making UK Black History on a global scale and they bring their hearts to the stage and you feel it.

Where better to watch a short film than in the home of UK Film & Television. The BAFTA HRH Princess Anne Theatre is the perfect auditorium to watch our thought provoking output screened on the night.

BAFTA headquarters is a wonderful venue. You have the VIP tables with full hospitality, bar and screens. There’s the reception room hosted by our very special DJs. The networking and media area. Then there’s the fabulous historic HRH Princess Anne Theatre – the auditorium where the main stage is located. Plus you have the history of the entire building, the wonderful imagery of great BAFTA winners past and present and don’t forget the life size original BAFTA sculpture, a favourite for all selfie lovers.

#back2blackawards | The Work We Do ALL year round!

All of us here at #back2blackawards are committed to supporting our young people. This annual fundraising gala is not only designed to recognise and inspire but also to raise funds for the support we provide to the young people who attend our year round workshops or are part of our mentor-ship programs. We especially focus on young people subjected to or at risk from violence and or abuse. We also support young people that for one reason or another are not engaging with society in the ways we’d like.

The Work We Do | Click to Watch Somethings [PG] A film based on a true story of a young person of colour and their experience of sexual abuse within the home. I know… ‘unsavoury’ but a plight many young people are forced to endure so someone has to talk about it. Output = Short Film proceeds goto #iamasurvivor abuse campaign

We use our media facilities and expertise to engage the young people and to teach them the skills that will assist them in achieving their dreams and objectives. We use one-on-one mentoring to ensure each young person gets the appropriate support.

Our workshops are designed to challenge our young people, the content we create during the workshops like the films AWOL and SOMETHINGS or the book CANCER | THE HIDDEN TRUTH not only develop their academic and social skills but the output also plays a part in educating and inspiring other young people and the wider community. There is a method to our process and we are always looking for new and effective ways to engage and inspire our young people. SUPPORTING #back2blackawards really does make a difference to their lives and in turn our community.
